Revolution Square, Amsterdam

11 November 2006 – In 1795, the Dam was renamed Revolution Square. Subsequently, the name Napoleon Square has been used, after which the name Dam was returned to in 1813. This kind of information can be found in the new Stadsatlas Amsterdam.

The book is in fact a continuation of the publication De naam van onze straat (Our street’s name), the first edition of which was published in 1977. The Stadsatlas contains detailed maps and beautiful historical photographs.

Stadsatlas Amsterdam: Straatnamen en brugnamen verklaard. Amsterdam Publishers, 29.90 euro.
