The Amsterdam Chamber of Commerce is organising a trade mission to North Korea in September. Participants wish to remain anonymous, for doing business with the Communist dictatorship is controversial, reports het Parool.
About a dozen companies would participate in the trade mission, among them dredging firm Van Oord. Organiser Paul Tjia says North Korean workers are well educated and low-paid.
Chairman Oswald Schwirtz of the Chamber of Commerce understands the topic is sensitive, but “as brand new chairman I don’t want to start by calling for a boycott”.
