Equal opportunity tours

24 September 2007 - The gay monument, the Portuguese synagogue, the Theo van Gogh monument and the Chinese Buddhist temple at the Zeedijk are among the attractions along a new series of Equal opportunity walking and cycling tours.

The tours have been developed on the occasion of the European Year of Equal Opportunities for All. Organiser E-quality says that Amsterdam has been chosen for the tours, because ten years ago government leaders included a commitment to actively fight discrimination in the Treaty of Amsterdam.

There are two walking tours and one cycling tour, all taking about three hours. For the visually handicapped, a braille walking tour is available. A free booklet in Dutch describing the tours will be published soon and will be available at the Central Station and from AKO booksellers.
