Council: cancel illegals premium

19 October 2006 – Amsterdam must see to it that the illegals premium is deleted from the performance contract between the national government and the police corpses. A motion to this effect, proposed by GroenLinks party leader Judith Sargentini, received broad support in the city council yesterday.

According to the performance contract, corpses will receive a bonus if they manage to arrest at least 11,883 illegals in 2007. Critics warn for a witch hunt after illegals and for inspections focussing on people with a foreign appearance.

All across the country, city councils have questioned the contract.
