Home care at the post office

4 July 2006 – In the future, inhabitants of Amsterdam can perhaps apply for home care at the post office. The municipality is discussing this option with Postkantoren BV, the owner of the post offices. The new WMO act will make the municipality responsible for home care and other services next year.

When the postal services where privatised, an agreement was made that the over 2.100 post offices will remain open. Since more and more services are being provided digitally, Postkantoren BV is looking for new ways to use the post offices.

As far as the company is concerned, citizens can in the future refer to the post office to ask their questions about housing or to apply for benefits.
